Letter from the Director:

We always strive to establish high standards for the Steers Center for Global Real Estate, and in this newsletter we are proud to update you about our recent work in Hong Kong, share insights from the sold-out Conversation with Joseph Sitt in New York City, and review several student-centered events that brought industry leaders like Tim Naughton to campus. This tremendous work is possible with an expanded team, and I am grateful for the work of Sunil Madan who joined us as associate director this semester. I am continually thankful for your support as we strive to build a globally recognized real estate program for our students and alumni. I invite you to follow our progress and keep in touch on social media, or by emailing me directly at matthew.cypher@georgetown.edu.

Hoya Saxa,

Matthew Cypher, Ph.D.

Sunil Madan Joins the Steers Center Team
Sunil Madan joined the Steers Center for Global Real Estate this fall as associate director. Below is a Q&A introducing him to the Georgetown McDonough family.

Welcome to the McDonough School of Business! What are you most excited about in your new position as associate director for the Steers Center for Global Real Estate?

Two things excite me most. Throughout my career, I have worked with well-established institutions that were growing rapidly. The Steers Center for Global Real Estate is a very good program already. Building it out further, particularly internationally, is exciting to me. Additionally, I am looking forward to the mentorship aspect and working directly with students. I don’t think mentoring stops with graduation – the wonderful thing about having a center is that our relationships with the students begin when they enter the program and can last throughout their careers. Setting up those relationships is one of the key reasons this job appealed to me.

What is one word you would use to describe Georgetown University?

Relevant. I think a Georgetown education is more relevant than ever. When you look at what’s going on in the world today, the issues are complicated and multidimensional requiring an interdisciplinary approach. Georgetown offers an education that provides students with the skills and experience to succeed when confronted with complex issues.
