Global Business Initiative

During the summer months I find myself energized with ideas to build on the successes we realized during the school year, like the recent launch of the Steers Center for Global Real Estate. This past school year, our real estate program attracted industry leaders like Jonathan Gray and Roy March to campus, convened prominent alumni in Los Angeles, and continued to expand opportunities for our students both inside the classroom and in the workplace through the creation of our Hoya Corporate Cornerstone program. I invite you to learn more about our new center and keep up to date on our latest activities by visiting our new website.

Hoya Saxa,

Matthew Cypher, Ph.D.

“Thanks to the generosity of Robert and Lauren Steers, students at the McDonough School of Business studying at the new Steers Center for Global Real Estate will participate in a transformative program that provides an opportunity to engage the world of real estate through a very practical approach,” said David A. Alumni Spotlight: Ronald Kravit (B'79)
Ronald Kravit (B'79) is the co-head of U.S. real estate investing and managing member of Cerberus Real Estate Capital Management, LLC, and senior managing director of Cerberus Capital Management. In this issue’s Alumni Spotlight, he discusses his career trajectory and how a Georgetown education helped shape it.

What do you enjoy most about real estate?
There’s always something new, the diversity of it all – it’s just fun. It requires a lot of skill sets: finance, marketing, accounting, strategy, even some psychology. The best part of Cerberus is that it’s a place where people with different investment expertise all work together. For example, we often look at private equity deals or corporate lending opportunities where there are significant real estate elements.
