Invitation to Developing New Insights
for Gender Equity in Organizations
Workshop, Oct. 22-23
You are invited to an exclusive, ground-breaking workshop October 22 and 23, hosted by Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, the Georgetown University Women’s Leadership Institute, and the Carnegie Mellon Leadership and Negotiation Academy for Women. The Developing New Insights for Gender Equity in Organizations workshop will begin on Thursday, October 22 at 6 p.m. on the Georgetown campus in Washington, D.C., followed by a day-long program on Friday, October 23. An overview of the schedule is below.

This invitation-only event will generate real-world solutions for addressing why women are not reaching senior executive ranks and corporate board rooms at rates commensurate with their educational and workplace achievements, and why corporations are not maintaining women in the pipeline toward promotion. The symposium will:
  • Gather leading thinkers and corporate executives to review the barriers to realizing gender equity in the workplace;
  • Discuss and design research programs to better identify how to break down these barriers and “leaks” in the system;
  • Provide access to the most recent research on gender dynamics and its implications for diversity initiatives and potential collaborators for long term intervention strategies.
You have been specifically chosen because of you and your organization’s commitment to advance these issues and be a leading force for change.

Corporate executive participants will offer brief remarks to encapsulate the current gender issue or concern that is most pressing or relevant. Academic participants will prepare brief remarks explaining the most useful advice implied by the body of gender research to date. At the workshop, thinking together, executives and academic researchers will identify paths of research and analysis that could illuminate strategies to accomplish break-through results in this area. The focus will be on creating working groups of complementary executives and scholars who can brainstorm ideas for novel interventions and pilot tests to measure their efficacy.

Space is limited, so please reply to this email as soon as possible whether you’re able to attend, unable to attend, or unsure at this time.

We hope you can join us for this path-breaking event on Oct. 22 and 23.
