Center for Financial Markets and Policy Announces First Distinguished Policy Fellow


The Center for Financial Markets and Policy has named Kathleen L. Casey, former commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, as a Distinguished Policy Fellow. In addition, three executives have joined the center's Board of Advisors. These individuals will help advance the mission of the center to engage leading academics, business people, and policymakers in dialogue regarding critical public policy issues relating to global financial markets.

A Conversation with Estée Lauder CEO Fabrizio Freda, Feb. 1


Fabrizio Freda, will discuss "Luxury and Prestige Beauty in Global Markets." Freda is President and Chief Executive Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies, a position he assumed on July 1, 2009. In this role, he is responsible for developing and achieving the company's overall vision, strategy, financial objectives and investment priorities. Freda is a member of the company's Board of Directors. The first 25 students to arrive at the event will receive a deluxe gift from Estée Lauder.

MBA Students Use Lunch to Learn a New Language


On Tuesday, January 24, Georgetown McDonough MBA students used their lunch break to brush up on their Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish at the first Language Lunch and Learn sponsored by the MBA Student Government Association (SGA). "We have students from more than 35 different countries in the MBA program," said Allen Wang, vice president of international relations. "The lunch and learn is a great opportunity to further enrich the experiences of those students, as well as broaden the horizons and knowledge of students wanting to learn a new language and culture."

Students Kick Off Chinese New Year in Style


In anticipation of the 2012 Chinese New Year, members of the Greater China Business Association (GCBA) decorated Connelly Commons and Fisher Colloquium with traditional Chinese paper cutouts and scrolls. The first annual 2012 Chinese New Year celebration party on January 23 was organized by GCBA and sponsored by Student Government Association and Georgetown University Chinese Students & Scholars Association.
