$1.5 Million Gift to Create Entrepreneurial ‘Venture Lab’ Near White House
 
A collaborative space to catalyze startups and initiatives for the university and its network of alumni entrepreneurs will be created with a $1.5 million gift from Ted Leonsis (C’77) and his family. A new Georgetown Venture Lab, launched by the McDonough School of Business’ Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative, will be located in WeWork White House, one block east of the White House on 15th and G Streets NW. "WeWork is proud to partner with Georgetown University, as we share a dedication to helping people pursue their entrepreneurial dreams," says Arthur Minson (B’92), president and chief financial officer of WeWork, and member of the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Advisory Group.

U.S. News Ranks MBA Programs Among Nation’s Best
U.S. News & World Report continues to rate the Georgetown McDonough MBA among the nation’s best graduate business programs, with the Full-time MBA ranking 25th and the MBA Evening Program ranking 11th. The school also is ranked 11th for international business.

Undergraduates Develop Outreach Plan for Evidence Action
First Year Seminar (FYS) students at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business recently participated in a case competition, a culmination of their research and efforts toward solving a challenge faced by a nonprofit organization. This year’s nonprofit was Evidence Action, an organization focused on alleviating poverty in Africa and Asia using statistics-driven, evidence-based measurement techniques. Students were asked to develop a solution to the organization’s challenge of appealing to broader audiences and donors while still maintaining their commitment to evidence and scale.

You cannot grow unless you fail, said Greg Coleman (B’76), former president of BuzzFeed and Georgetown alumnus and parent during a conversation at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business on February 20 with Rebecca Hamilton, the Michael and Robin Psaros Endowed Chair in Business Administration and professor of marketing. Coleman began his career at Reader’s Digest and worked at Yahoo!, AOL, The Huffington Post, and Criteo before joining BuzzFeed as president and now senior advisor.

Georgetown Welcomes 14th Executive Master’s in Leadership Cohort
In early March, Georgetown McDonough welcomed the 14th cohort of the Executive Master’s in Leadership (EML) program. The 30 students, who work in a wide variety of industries, have an average of 16 years of work experience. Nearly 60 percent of the students are women. The EML program spans 13 consecutive months on an alternating weekend format. During the program, students participate in one global and two domestic residencies.
