California Alumni Form Wall Street Alliance West MBA Student Wins a “Non-Obvious” Award EMBA Student Serves as Guide and Qualifies for Boston Marathon

Georgetown University alumni gathered November 19 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills for the launch of the new Wall Street Alliance West group. The original Wall Street Alliance, which is located in New York City and was founded in 1995, currently has more than 8,000 members.

Great ideas come about when 80 accomplished leaders from the highest levels of business, finance, diplomacy and government, media, and the arts gather to propose creative and “non-obvious” solution to various challenges facing the world. MBA student Udhedhe Olakpe recently was recogonized for her "non-obvious" for recycling shipping containers.

Executive MBA student Nick Abramczyk and his friend Thomas Panek, who has been blind since his early 20's, have accomplished a goal they have been working toward: qualifying for the 2014 Boston Marathon.

McDonough School of Business and American Farm Bureau Federation Collaborate on Rural Entrepreneurship Georgetown takes 1st place at the Undergraduate Venture Capital Investment Competition at UNC William Novelli Named to the Association of American Medical Colleges Board of Directors
The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and The Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Global Social Enterprise Initiative (GSEI) announced a partnership to help strengthen rural America. The multi-year collaboration will address solutions to building greater economic opportunity and security for those who live in rural communities, starting with a program involving the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative to advance rural entrepreneurship.

Congratulations to our Georgetown team (Darius Babel, Carlos Salgado, Shilpa Chandran, Tammy Cho, and Evan Zimmet) who took first place in national undergraduate Venture Capital Investment Competition in November at UNC Chapel Hill.  This win marks three in a row for Georgetown in the VCIC, including last year's undergraduate National Championship and MBA Global Championship. According to the judges, our team performed best in the role of VCs as they evaluated real startups and negotiated the terms of an investment.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has announced its new board of directors, which includes William Novelli, Georgetown McDonough School of Business distinguished professor of the practice and founder of the school’s Global Social Enterprise Initiative. Novelli, who also is the former CEO of AARP, has focused on such health issues as changing public policies around how children are exposed to messages about smoking, reforming advanced illness care, and improving the quality of life for older generations throughout his career.
